The 100 Year, 1 Million Dollar Question

A Russian mathematician believes he has solved the Poincaré conjecture, a study of geometrical qualities of objects that do not change when twisted or stretched. If independantly proven by third parties, this would finally verify the theorem originally proposed in 1904.

The Poincaré conjecture is one of the seven greatest unsolved problems in mathematics, and the Clay Mathematics Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts has offered a $1 million dollar prize for it’s solution.
