When ESPN.com relaunched its site a month ago, it pushed the browser technology further than any other mainstream site. It dropped support for older non-standards based browsers such as Netscape 4.7, and created a design entirely based on Style Sheets.
Serving up over 40 Million pageviews per day, this change saved their site over 60 Terabytes of transfer per month, reducing their costs, and increasing their flexibility. This detailed interview with ESPN.com’s Mike Davidson published in DevEdge shows a look inside the development of this relaunch.
