This stark message was the one coming from the 3rd World Water Summit in Japan today. The World Health Organization states that 2.4 Billion people lack basic sanitation, and 1.1 Billion don’t have access to safe drinking water.
But simply encouraging hand-washing using soap would be three times more cost-effective than improving water quality in some communities.
